Environmental
Safe and Secure Training Limited started delivering medical and environmental training in 1994, with the director and key staff being involved with the development of a new qualification in the recycling and Waste industry. Safe and Secure Training developed the Recycling National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) with City and Guilds and Energy Utility Skills (EU Skills, the sector skills agency for this sector.)
Safe and Secure Training are pleased to announce that we have joined in partnership with the Quality Skills Alliance (QSA), a consortium of 20+ training providers.
Along with Cardiff and The Vale College, our relationship allows us to offer Sustainable Resource Management Apprenticeships levels one through four, some that are fully funded by The Welsh Assembly Government.
We understand that training is often underfunded and expensive so as part of this training scheme, we offer an additional three courses free of charge included to ensure maximum benefit to the employer and employee.
-
First Aid at Work
-
Conflict Management
-
Manual Handling
Safe & Secure Training can be considered leaders in the field of Sustainable Resource Management with our first batch of learners being amongst the first in the UK to achieve the apprenticeship with City & Guilds. The Company Director played a key role in developing the NVQ in Recycling and Safe & Secure was one of the first training providers in the UK to gain accreditation to deliver this through City & Guilds.
This course targets recycling and environment issues, which is suitable for persons intending to be a company Environmental Officer or anyone who works in the industry. We have experience on instructing:
- amenity sites
- waste & recycling operatives
- prisoners and guards
- the internal drainage board
- recycling enforcement teams
What this means to you, the employer:
We are one
Employers have access to a “one stop shop”, as the QSA delivers almost 50 different routes covering 11 sectors. Employers can access other training with a company also in the QSA, working to the same high standards.
For Example:
Organisations who currently have construction apprentices may want their administration staff to gain qualifications. The employer can approach their current training provider, who will be able to put them in contact with the correct person in the QSA who can help those apprentices gain their own framework.
What this means to learners
The QSA are all here for the same purpose – the learner
Benefits to you as a QSA learner are
- Access to an NUS apprenticeship card
- Access to learning support centres until 9pm
- Support for essential skills, dyslexia, learning difficulties and Welsh
- Guaranteed quality of provision from members of the QSA
- Access to a wider range of Work Based Learning programmes
- More opportunities to progress to a higher level of apprenticeship

We were the first in Wales and only one of two teams in the U.K involved in the development and delivery of NVQs for the recycling industry. P.C (Company Director) continued developing the new qualifications and formed part of the Sector Skills working group developing the full apprenticeship in sustainable resource management.
We deliver level 2 & 3 in Sustainable Resource Management, which is fully funded for under 25's by the Welsh Government and consists of three elements:
-
Qualification Credit Framework (QCF) the vocational section (NVQ)
-
Essential Skills (application of number and communication)
-
Technical certificates & knowledge elements (VRQ)
